Product Description
Winston is starved for companionship. He remembers his mother's love. He recognizes love among the Proles. Here is his chance to connect with a human, to follow his human instincts.

This activity requires students to read Section 2 Chapter 1 of 1984 and complete questions.

There are three pages with 20 questions.

Many of the questions have questions within the questions.

Some questions provide text for analysis.

Most questions require higher-level thinking, for example,

---What could “I love you” mean in Oceania in 1984?

---Can the dark-haired girl love Winston?

---Is the dark-haired girl allowed to love Winston or is that a thoughtcrime?

---Do you think that Winston can love the dark-haired girl?

---How might Winston’s and the dark-haired girl’s “I love you”s mean something different?

I have included a key.

I use clear font and provide space for student responses.

There are two relevant graphics.

Thank you for your consideration of this resource.
