1984 Diversified activities to evaluate students' understanding and appreciation of Section 2 of the novel.
I've included three different activities in one product.
These activities are designed to assess students' understanding of
Section 2 of Orwell's 1984.
---Persuasive Essay: This product provides instructions and prompts.
-----Steps for writing the persuasive essay included:
-------making appeals (logical, emotional, ethical),
-------presenting the opposing viewpoint,
-------avoiding logical fallacies,
There is a checklist for students to edit their work.
The prompt requires students to present a concept from Goldstein's book to the US government for implementation in our society.
Also included in this product is an activity which requires eight short essays about
--theme, etc. in section 2 of the novel and
--two longer essays about Goldstein's book.
Finally, there is a test with 12 quotes from Section 2 and questions for each plus a bonus question.
These are all editable documents, so you can mix and match as you see appropriate for your own class.
I have included a key with suggested responses.
