Storyboarding is a great way to engage students who love Youtube and Netflix. It gives them a chance to do a careful close read of a scene and think about how they would produce it as a film clip.
As your students consider, lay out, and defend the composition, lighting, angles, sound effects, and more for each shot in their short film clip, they will be diving deep into literary analysis. They'll eventually explain their choices in a short paper to accompany their storyboards, making this a great creative way to work on their analysis writing.
