This fun 30% off bundle will entertain and challenge students while ensuring that there is no marking and no prep beyond a little photocopying for you - what a win-win! It is comprised of 3 1984 games and activities, a 1984 debate resource and a poster. This combo will not only help foster a creative approach to this play but also keep your students happy and engaged during even dire emergencies, such as Friday afternoons.
3 Games and Activities
The found poetry exercise will occupy a considerable portion of a class . The other two activities in this package - anagrams and mind crunchers - are more suited to a spare 10 minutes or so at the end of the class, or even as bellringers. The only activity that needs to be photocopied is the found poetry activity (two sheets for each student).
The debate activity
Students grapple with key issues in the text like
Be it resolved that the only round character in the novel is Winston Smith. They also get public speaking and teamwork practice, while you avoid piles of weekend-eating marking.
What this resource contains
It has everything needed to run a debate, including

Please see the preview for a full table of contents.
This resource does not teach students HOW to debate. If you need a resource that teaches students how to debate, step by patient step, please see Debate ANY novel or play!
Many of the pages in this package are drawn from that resource.
9 topics are provided, enough for even the largest classes to debate different resolutions in their groups of four. The resolutions are part of a fully editable Word folder AND an editable PDF folder. The resolutions document also provides a record of the teams’ names and which side they are arguing for.
A separate Word folder AND editable PDF folder of some parts of the resource are included. This will allow you to make changes if necessary to suit the style your district debates in, or to alter the number of minutes allotted to each speaker.
