Explore themes from George Orwell's novel, 1984, with this pre-reading and post-reading activity.
Before reading the book, students read seven statements that reflect themes explored in 1984. Then, they write if they agree or disagree with the statements, and answer why. After finishing the book, students fill out another seven statements worksheet. Next, they compare their answers from before they read, and see if any of their opinions changed.
Students have the opportunity to reflect on their new points of view by writing down their insights in the "After you read" worksheets. Students also explore themes by answering several short-answer questions on the worksheets that are ready to print (and cute too!).
