PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Created with Word
I've included three different activities in one product. These activities are designed to assess students' understanding of Section 2 of Orwell's 1984.
Persuasive Essay: This product provides instructions and prompts. Steps for writing the persuasive essay included: pre-writing, making appeals (logical, emotional, ethical), presenting the opposing viewpoint, organizing points, outlining, avoiding logical fallacies, There is a checklist for students to edit their work. The prompt requires students to present a concept from Goldstein's book to the US government for implementation in our society. Also included in this product is an activity which requires eight short essays about the plot, characterization, theme, etc. in section 2 of the novel and two longer essays about Goldstein's book. Finally, there is a test with 12 quotes from Section 2 and questions for each plus a bonus question. These are all editable documents, so you can mix and match as you see appropriate for your own class. I have included a key with suggested responses. Thank you for your consideration of this product. I hope you'll visit my store to check out my other 1984 items. Particularly popular are the individual chapter activities and the Goldstein's book graphic organizers with accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Thank you. Enjoy!
Just posted a bundled 1984 unit to my store. It will save you a lot of time. Please have a look.
