This media-based 1984 activity will get students connecting our world today with Orwell's world.
It will also help them critically examine two famous commercials representing companies they probably interact with frequently: Motorola and Apple.
Simply play the videos linked within the packet for the two commercials, then pass out the questions to individuals, pairs or small groups (whatever works best for you). Be sure to save time at the end to discuss the final questions as a large group.
From the Reviews:
"I love activities that incorporate short video clips and analysis. Definite great for honing in on analysis skills in a pain-free, interesting way. I did this activity with a class of juniors and they handled it very well and had some interesting thoughts."
"Great! I placed this within my 1984 overall unit. Worked wonders!"
"Helpful, thank you! Engaged my students."
