1984 by George Orwell has a couple of hundred challenging words, certainly too many to expect students to learn. This puzzle focuses on 23 of them--one per chapter. The original sentence (or a part of it) along with the part and chapter number is included in each clue. Examples:
His mind slid away into the LABYRINTHINE world of doublethink. (1/3) ANSWER: complex
...The May sunshine had made him feel dirty and ETIOLATED... (2/2) ANSWER: weakened
