This is a great PP on different ridiculous quack ads from the 19th century. I used it while teaching Tom Sawyer. As I present it, the kids naturally become curious and by the end, when they get their assignment, they really have a great time with it. The end result is a group project where they get to make their own quack ad for a product they invent. I had some hilarious results--a shrinking man tonic, a super-human elixer--you name it, they came up with it! Very cool to talk about these ads as they tie in to the mindset of Tom's Aunt.
