A group of friends and I set-out on a mission to study the Bible. We were burdened specifically with the downhill spiral of women's ministry, the emotionalism and fluff. We were convicted not to do another "women's study" but to read our Bibles. We decided to start studying 1 John. We did so through various Bible study techniques, theologically rich commentaries (my husband is a pastor with his masters in Bible so we used his recommendations), devoured as many relatable sermons as possible, but not just any sermons. Sermons by men devoted to the Word such as Paul Washer, Voddie Baucham, and John Piper. The accountability and time spent in the Word produced much growth in us spiritually, but we were convicted that we needed to pass this on to our children. With a passion for children's ministry and curriculum I created an interactive study on the book of 1 John that we are utilizing as a kids club with all our kids and grandkids, but this can also be used as a small study within the home or as a VBS or backyard Bible Club.
In this four day study kids will be welcomed in during opening time and observe some sort of visual lesson connected to the scripture, they will work on a project in the Creation Station, do an activity in the Playstation, and unpack the word of God and have a treat in Unpack and Snack. All the projects, activities, and snacks point to the main lesson of the day, so kids get to explore scripture using all five of their senses! (If you would like to spread this out as a study at home you could read the scriptures of 1 John daily and do one "club day" a week and have it last for a month).
This can be done on either a small scale or big. If you are a mom wanting to teach her kids the Bible and want a quality, theologically sound resource get this and set up the Creation Station at your dining room table, the Playstation our in your yard, and the Unpack and Snack in your living room. If you have bigger plans in mind this can be done at church, as elaborate or simple as you wish.
This pdf has EVERYTHING you need. Supply lists, teaching scripts for opening time, creation station, playstation, and unpack and snack, printable activity pages, an optional test your knowledge quiz with answers, and a certificate of completion for those who attend or do the study. If you have any questions please send me a message.
This study is from a reformed, Gospel-centered perspective.
It is priced to be a steal for large VBS programs and affordable for smaller usage. I have spent hours and hours studying and developing this curriculum, I ask that if you buy it that you would recommend it to friends and churches, but also that you would encourage them to purchase the pdf instead of printing for them. This honors the time and energy I have put into it, and encourages me to continue to create these. Thank you!
