This delightful (1st through 4th grade) play is a retelling of the classic Hansel and Gretel story.
There are many hilarious twists in this retelling, and (in this particular tale) the witch is not who she appears to be! :)
Q. How do I best use this resource?
A. First, I'm glad you asked! :) This resource is a wonderful opportunity for students to develop greater skill in reading, and in reading comprehension.
Next, this play is a great reading motivator for elementary-aged students. (Additionally, this resource helps learners to increase their reading confidence.)
Last, but not least, this play can be used in a day-long event, this summer! :)
Instructions for the event:
First, divide the class into groups of six. Then, have the groups perform the play for the rest of the class. Finally, award certificates (to each group) for "Most dramatic play", "Funniest play", "Best costumes", "Best acting", "Scariest play," etc.
Thanks so much, and have a wonderful play! :)
