Product Description
SLIDES & LADDERS GAME - 1st Grade NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC REACH for READING HFW Of course, it's a twist on the classic Chutes and Ladders game utilizing 1st grade Reach for Reading high frequency words. Includes a game board for each unit, 8 colorful game boards in all!

This is a fun way for students to practice reading their sight words. Since many children are already familiar with how to play this game, it makes a great learning center activity.

Directions: 2-4 students may play at one time. One six-sided die is needed as well as one game piece (mover, pawn) for each player.

Players roll the die to determine who will go first. The first player rolls the die and moves the indicated number of spaces. The player must read the word he or she lands on in order to stay there. If the player lands at the very bottom of a ladder, the player immediately climbs up to the top of the ladder. In order to remain at the top of the ladder, the player must read the word at the top of the ladder as well. If the player is unable to read a word, the player does not advance. If the player lands at the very top of a slide, the player must immediately move to the bottom of the slide. Play passes to the left. The winner is the first player to land on the trophy (with an exact count) at the top of the game board.
