Description
This Reading Comprehension Pack for Guided Reading Levels G and H (DRA Levels 12 and 14) includes 25 passages with a choice of Cause and Effect or Wh- questions.
I have recently added a set of posters for the words Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. These posters are each 8 1/2 x 11 and there is also one page which includes a smaller version of all of these.
Each passage is presented twice. The questions with the first version focus on answering who, what, when, where, why and how questions.
The worksheets for the second version provide differentiation, prompting students to answer questions focusing on:
★ Cause and Effect
★ Distinguishing fact from detail
★ Deciding and justifying whether they agree with a statement
★ Looking carefully at text features such as endings, compound words and contractions
★ Determining who a pronoun in the passage refers to
This resource was designed to support the following Student Outcomes and related Common Core Standards:
★ Students will read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.1.4 and ELA-LITERACY.RF.2.4).
★ Students will answer who, what, where, when, why, and how questions to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text (CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.2.1).
★ Students will answer questions about key details in a text (ELA.Literacy.RI.1.1 and ELA.Literacy.RL.1.1).
★ Students will read common high-frequency words and grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words (ELA-Literacy.RF.1.3g and ELA-LITERACY.RF.2.3.F).
I find that, with guided practice, kids quickly develop the skills they need to successfully complete these activities.
