This resource is meant to be used with all students in a first grade math literate classroom but can also be used for extremely independent kindergarten students or intervention for second graders. You will be planning for three levels of independence (the less independent, the more guidance from you will be needed) but with the key areas intact:
D.O.K. (Depth of Knowledge at 3 and 4)
1st grade Common Core Math Standards for Measurement, Numbers in Base Ten, Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Geometry
You will be planning for three levels of independence (the less independent, the more guidance from you will be needed, the more independent, less guidance from you – more of a periodic check-in)
Students will have their choice of factory product (they should stick with a category but the category and 3 prototypes are up to them). This resource will provide some options, but you can choose to give the ok on other creative plans! Students who are overwhelmed by choice may need less options / students who are highly capable may not need any ideas from you to develop their product and prototypes.
When students are ready to present, they can lay out their Journal Pages and non-cut out Work Pages on Posterboard or use another media.
