Try a free lesson from unit 1 here.

Let's face it, most math curriculums are just bad. You could spend hours digging through everything just to pull out the best parts to create one lesson plan. If this doesn't sound like something you want to spend your personal time doing, then this is just the thing you need to make your life easier!

I can give you back all of those precious hours because I have already done ALL of the digging for you and put it together in an engaging and differentiated bundle. No more searching for the best. It's right here! Make sure to read the what's included section to see why this is so much better than most math curriculums and check out the FAQ section at the end.

These 1st grade math lesson plans are differentiated to teach your students exactly what they need to know in order to master 1st grade standards in no time while saving you hours of planning and prepping!

-When this says time saving that is exactly what it means! I have never seen a resource that contains so much for one lesson. My principal was amazed when she came for my observation and saw the amount of differentiation that was going on in my groups. Some days my lower levels don't make it through the main part of the lesson while my higher groups fly through. This packet provides ample resources for those higher level students to keep them learning for their entire guided math time while also providing simpler versions of the lesson for those struggling.

- Christy 1st grade teacher TN

Why are these 1st grade Math Lesson Plans different from others you have seen? First, they are differentiated but not just by saying to assist each student more or less depending on their level. There are differentiated work mats, equation cards, independent practice pages, word problem cards, challenge extensions, higher order thinking questions, and more for 3 levels of learners

-WOW is all I can say! These units are jam packed full of activities in each lesson to keep my students learning during our guided math time. For years, I have searched for lessons that would meet all of my students' needs and this does just that. From challenges to independent practice pages all of my different levels of learners are covered. - Amy 1st grade teacher from FL

The prep for these 1st Grade Math Games, Math Worksheets, and Math Activities is teacher friendly! Prep consists of printing the lesson plan, work mats front to back for each group, and games. Use dry erase pocket sleeves with the work mats and laminate the games and then save these materials to use year after year! The only thing that will need to be reprinted each year are independent practice pages.

-These guided math lessons have saved me endless hours of working after school to plan for my guided math groups. It is ALL done for you. I made a few trips to the copy machine and was ready to teach. No planning or prep on my end! Thank you for helping me get back some of my personal time. - Sarah 1st grade teacher GA

These lessons are ink-friendly. Almost every page in these lessons can be printed on color paper or even just plain white paper to save on ink (even the games)!

What is included with these 1st grade Math Lesson Plans

✏️Daily lesson plans - Each lesson plan will walk you through introducing the standard and skill for that day, how to have students practice the skill with you at their learning level and then move them on to practicing independently. I have done extensive research on the best way to introduce each skill included and how to progress students through the skill so that they fully master each lesson.

✏️Differentiated two-sided work mats - These work mats will be used for the teacher to model, students to practice with the teacher and then for them to show you what they know before you release them off to complete their independent work.

✏️Differentiated equation cards - For every skill that involves students to add or subtract, there are equation cards for below, on and above level students.

✏️Differentiated independent practice pages - These pages can be used for review throughout the year, homework, morning work, etc. I like for students to leave my table and complete them right away for me to know what they learned during group that day so I know where I need to start with each group the following day.

✏️Games - Every single lesson comes with a game directly related to that day's lesson. These games are fantastic to use during small group or in math centers,

✏️Questions to ask during lessons - We all know students need to be answering higher order thinking questions during reading but have you ever thought about using this technique during math? Every lesson includes a few questions that will require students to think outside the box to answer.

✏️Challenge Extensions - Have you ever sat down with a group and taught the lesson but the students got it so fast that it wasn't a challenge at all for them? I've been there and did not have a back up plan. Just because the higher level students get it, they still deserve to learn so I created a challenge extension for every single lesson for those quick learners.

✏️Addition and Subtraction strategy posters - This is a separate product in my store that I've included in this bundle as a bonus and comes in two different color themes for you to choose your favorite. Display these posters for students to reference throughout the year because they are strategies that are used all of first grade.

✏️Differentiated word problems - Word problems are difficult for students to grasp. That's why I end all of my lessons with word problems involving different situation types (add to, take from, change unknown, start unknown, etc). This give students a quick review to make sure they are remembering how to solve the different word problem types.

✏️Clickable Table of Contents - To make it quick and easy for you to find the lesson you need.

✏️Answer Keys - I love having the answer keys at my table so while students are working, I can quickly glance around and check their work.

Now tell me, does your district's math curriculum give you all of that?

My goal is to save teachers as much time as possible and this year-long bundle will do just that. Say goodbye to working hours after school and on the weekends to plan amazing differentiated small group plans that your students will love! Buy now and that work has already been done for you.

FAQ

Q: Does it take a lot of time to prep?

A: No! As I said above, my goal is to save you as much time as possible. Most of these lessons just require a few copies. I copy my levels on different color paper for easy organization. I keep the lessons in binders and the work mats and game pieces in a sheet protector behind the lesson. Plus once you get your binders ready they will be ready for years to come!

Q: What grade is this for?

A: This math bundle was created specifically for 1st grade using first grade standards but I have had kindergarten teachers use it for challenging their students and 2nd grade teachers use it for their struggling students.

Q: Do I have to buy the bundle or can I buy the units individually?

A: Every unit is available individually, but you will save 30% by purchasing the bundle.

Q: Is this a full-year curriculum?

A: Yes, this bundle covers every first grade common core standard and includes 14 different individual units.

Q: If I purchase one units and then decide I want the bundle, can I get a refund?

A: Yes, you can contact TPT and let them know you purchased the bundle and they will refund the price of the individual unit you bought.

Q: How long does each lesson take to teach?

A: Most lessons will take between 20-30 minutes. There is A LOT of material for every lesson so some lessons may need to be spread out over 2 days. You don't have to use everything includes in every lesson. Just pick and choose what is best for your class.

Q: Does this have to be used in small groups?

A: This product was made for a small group setting but you could choose to teach the main lesson whole group and then use some of the other parts of the lesson in small group. I have used the lessons in whole group before and still used the differentiated work mats during whole group as well. Students will never know they are differentiated. I tell my students the work mats are different so nobody can copy.

Use addition and subtraction within 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Solve word problems that call for addition of three whole numbers whose sum is less than or equal to 20, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add and subtract. If 8 + 3 = 11 is known, then 3 + 8 = 11 is also known. (Commutative property of addition.) To add 2 + 6 + 4, the second two numbers can be added to make a ten, so 2 + 6 + 4 = 2 + 10 = 12. (Associative property of addition.)
Understand subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 – 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8.
Relate counting to addition and subtraction (e.g., by counting on 2 to add 2).
