There are five short reading passages, each of which has a short test (part multiple choice, part free response) afterwards. This can be a beginning of class activity, or can be assigned as homework.
Though this is mostly 1st-2nd grade level, it can be read out loud to younger children or serve as review for older kids. I intentionally did a few things to try to make it more challenging, so that the worksheet could also be a learning opportunity:
1. There are at least 4 (usually 5) multiple choice options (as opposed to the 3 you often see for this grade level)
2. There are a couple of times where I will use a harder word and bold it, and then ask questions about it later, so students have a chance to figure out the meaning via contextual clues
3. I tried to have one passage that had a few historical facts and one that has a little math so that we're mixing it up!
This is my first time experimenting with this and I intend to make more (as I think they would be good homework/review packets too).
