Do your students need to understand that different words have different shades of meaning? This activity is perfect to provide them with a model, an opportunity to practice this important concept, and a means for students to apply their understanding in writing. It is a simple lesson for young learners. This lesson comes with six different examples of five words each. Students must order the words according to their shades of meaning. Then, students must apply their understanding as they construct sentences using three of those words. The activity comes with cards with each of the thirty words on them to assist the teacher in either allowing kids to perform line-ups in small groups, or modeling the shades of meaning in front of the class.
