This Opinion Writing Rubric is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts in Writing for 1st grade. It can be used as both an analytic and holistic scoring rubric. It contains a space for you to place check marks
next to the level of skill students have achieved. Categories (Content & Style, Organization, and Conventions) are scored 0-4 with corresponding proficiency levels (Advanced-4, Proficient-3, Partially Proficient-2, Unsatisfactory-1, Incomplete-0). This is an excellent tool for monitoring students' progress over time as well as determining year end proficiency. The clear, simple language makes the rubric a perfect tool to use during student conferences and at parent conferences.
