You will download a zip file with 17 jpg and pdf files
This is an art lesson that includes a worksheet about World Pyramids and templates for 2 different cards using animal silhouettes.
1. Worksheet for Open Drawing of Pyramids. Write the location of each pyramid in the space provided. Then draw your interpretation of the pyramid in the picture. This is not meant to be history lesson, but rather an observational drawing about 3 different types of pyramids.

2 Father's Day cards using animal silhouettes
3D Pyramid Card
There are two sizes of Pyramid Templates (8.5 x 11" or 11" x 17")
Copy the pyramid templates on a sturdy bond or construction paper. Use colors!
You will need to make copies of the pyramid template, the 2 animal silhouettes pages and the 6 pattern pages. If you don't have a color printer, the students can create their own patterns/decorations in markers on the pyramid sides. Have them leave room for a greeting for their Dad on one outside face.
The animal silhouettes can be individually cut out and glued onto the pyramid (in flat form before the pyramid is assembled.) You will want to print enough copies for each table to have a sufficient supply of silhouettes.
Or they can be cut out and traced to make stencils.
Use the 6 different pattern papers for either animal stencils or for the pyramid shape or however the students want to use them. Be creative.
2D Card (Traditional)
There are two tree silhouettes pages to copy for the 2D cards. If you copy onto a colored construction or bond, it will make a sturdy card. The animal silhouettes can be cut and glued on or else used as stencils to cut from the pattern paper.
The card paper gets folded in half hamburger style, with the tree either being on the outside or inside.
(Alternative: Or create with paint and sponges to make prints of the stencils onto the card)
Children decorate the card as they wish, be sure to include a greeting.
I consider this a steam lesson because the students are engineering a 3D template. They are using animal silhouettes and designing cards. The 3D pyramid is a mathematical shape. They are also designing and creating their cards using art elements and tools. Art tools are considered the original form of technology. (Remember we had art tools long before we had computers and ipads) A steam lesson does not have to have all components in one lesson.
