Add feathers to this simple and cute craftivity to make a great spring or Easter display while meeting Common Core standards.
This file includes the patterns for the chick bodies (rectangle, circle, trapezoid, triangle, hexagon, and octagon), eyes, and beaks along with a writing paper to use for a description of the shape chick.
All students need to do is cut, glue, and write. My second graders were tasked to draw the shapes for the chick’s legs and feet on orange paper. To be sure their feet were congruent the students doubled the paper before cutting. There was so much math talk during this activity…sides, vertices, shape names!
