This document was formatted to be used in a variety of ways. My students have math journals in which they cut, glue, and place math problems in their daily math journals. There are 27 word problems that can be copied, cut, and glued in their math journals. On occasion, I extend math journals by asking students to show their work using a different strategy to solve the word problem as well as explaining how they solved their word problem.
Another way to use this document is as a "center activity". Copy the colorful task cards, cut, laminate the 27 word problems . Include them in a packet with recording sheets (included) so that students can work on these problems.
The game of SCOOT is another way that this document can be used. Prepare it the same as the"'center game", except this time place the laminated word problems on student desks. SCOOT around the room for fun!
The task cards allow for students to use a variety of addition strategies (counting on, make ten, rounding, etc).
