This activity is to follow any 2 digit multiplication lesson! For EnVision Math, this activity covers topics 6-4, 6-5, and 6-6!
Because most schools only copy and print in black and white, I created the game that way. Each student should be paired up with a partner (one group may have three people), have one black and white game board, one stack of white cards, one stack of grey cards, a die, and each student should have their own Recording Sheet.
There are two pages of problems and I copy them on two different colored sheets (usually white and grey since those are the colors on the board but you can really use any color). It does not matter which page is which color.
How to play the game:
Player 1 rolls the die and moves to the space on the board. Player 1 picks up the card of the color space they landed on. Both Player 1 and 2 complete the problem and write the explanation for solving it.
Player 2 rolls the die and moves to the space on the board. Player 2 picks up the card of the color space they landed on. Both Player 1 and 2 complete the problem and write the explanation for solving it.
The directions are also written on each Worksheet that students will be able to go back and reference if they are confused about the rules.
This is a great interactive way to get students to practice their multiplication AND explaining their mathematical though out process for each problem! This will help them prepare for the Common Core Tests!!
