2 pages of repeated practice in multiplying 2 digit by 2 digit numbers. The grid is set up to multiply numbers up to 20 x 30. Then they should write the partial products on the grid. Finally they will add the partial products to find the product. We tend to use this method with the on level and above level students in our 3rd grade intervention groups near the end of the year. This would be a great intervention in 4th and 5th grade for those who do not understand the concepts behind multi digit multiplication.

We model shading the equation with different colors. We have students use crayons on their papers. After the 1st day have students come up to the document camera to model the making of the rectangles,shading and writing the equations on the grids. Then setting up the partial products equations in the margin. The color coding helps them understand what is being multiplied.
Teaching Duration not listed as it will depend on the skill of your students. Some students will need to spend several days (or more) on this concept before transitioning to partial products without the visual model.
