This is a small group activity to explore what life would be like on a 2-dimensional planet. Students read Chapter 5, when Meg is on the 2-D planet, then discuss her experience. Small groups then discuss what a 2D planet would look and feel like.
After their discussion, students use paper to create a 2-D planet. They then write a description of how people on their planet move and communicate. As a small group, students also write and correctly punctuate a dialog between people on their 2-D planet.
This lesson focuses on the use of similes, metaphors, and imagery, and correct punctuation when writing a dialog.
