This is the second in a set of Editing and Word Processing Activities. The first set of Editing and Word Processing Activities was about going to the beach. This paragraph is about a rescue dog named, Buckley, who finds his forever home.
These editing activities can be used in two ways.
1. Print a hard copy of the paragraphs for editing in class
2. Load the computer files to individual computers to practice word processing skills.
Teaching students how to use editing marks works well with these activities. Intentionally, each paragraph is the same story but the errors are different in each paragraph. The repeated reading of the same paragraph allows students to build confidence as they practice editing and word processing skills. Students will practice the flowing editing skills: capitalization, indenting the first word of a paragraph, spell check, and correct spacing before and after a period. Students will also practice using the “nonprinting characters tool” For the early finisher students, at the end of each paragraph, there is a link to an online typing game to practice keyboarding.
