I created this math set to teach and practice multi-step problems with bigger multiplication problems. I used the first 2 pages (set #1 -run front/back) as a whole group teaching tool. I then ran set #2 and used it as a partner activity and had them share and check with other partner groups. I then quickly went over the process again whole group and checked for understanding on set #2. I then used set #3 as an independent activity and took a grade on it. The final step was that I had partner groups write their own problems using the formula I had set up on all sets. They then switched with classmates and worked others problems.
I felt that the repetition and the practice provided helped my students understand how to pull out the needed information and set it up to solve. It was also great practice for 2 by 1 multiplication. You could split this up into two days but I thought it was important to have the quick repetition.
