Product Description
Want to get beyond the desk? Get students moving and grooving while practicing twenty need-to-know American idioms in two kinesthetic activities.

In this file:

40 Cards (20 Idioms + 20 Meanings): Print full size to have students move around the classroom to find their matching partner. Print multiple pages per sheet to create small cards to be matched during small group, partners, or stations. [Print and laminate for your bulletin board]

1 Task Sheet: Once students find their matching partner, students use their recording sheet to brainstorm scenarios that would illustrate their idioms.

2 Depiction Cards: Once students brainstorm possible scenarios that illustrate their idioms, small groups form to either draw or perform the most accurate (and hilarious) of each pair's scenarios. [Great as a visual word wall or for sketch notes!]

1 Study Guide to reinforce the kinesthetic learning and to use as a baseline answer key (exact answers will vary).

1 Grading Guide for easy scoring
----this is not a rubric or an answer key

Helpful HINT:
[stand up-hand up- pair up is the Kagan activity where students travel around the room with hand raised to indicate a need for a partner, within ten seconds they find a partner and swap prior knowledge to answer one or more idiom meanings. Students travel until they get all answers to the time limit is expended. Then the whole class shares what they found most difficult to answer and teacher/student shares or research the answer.]
