I plan in using this activity in my 3rd grade classroom this week. Many people are talking about the possibility of a new face on the $20 dollar bill and I am curious to see what my students think!
I will begin by seeing what they have heard and what they already know about this topic. I will not have them research each candidate, but have included that as a possibility. One idea I had was putting them in groups and having them research and share their findings with the class. I am hoping to do that in one class period. I will also have them ask around and see who their classmates would choose. I will probably have them ask the entire third grade and I have included a sheet for graphing their findings.
I have included templates for graphing, portrait drawing, blank $20 bills for your students to design (two sizes), research page, rough draft page, final copy paper and an editing page.
Feel free to use what you like from the packet. My goal is to complete this in one week!
