Photography is a hobby of mine so I put together 20 of the best pictures I took at the National Archaeological Museum of Athens last month. There is a five-page booklet included that has the information on each statue. The pictures are all jpegs and the booklet is in black and white. THIS IS THE BLACK AND WHITE VERSION. All pictures are in black and white. I have also listed a color version for teachers who don't have as much of an ink budget.
Please use and publish these freely. My hope is that some of your students will want to use them for reports or as visuals. This museum collection has some of the most famous art and sculptures from Ancient Greece and Rome and I am thrilled to share it with your class.
Art is one of the best ways to introduce students to global culture.
Mind you, these are lifelike statues with lifelike bodies and parts. Though I cropped the junk out of some of the pictures (for our elementary teachers and Sunday school teachers) I'm expecting you to look through the pictures and see which ones are appropriate for your students. At every museum I visited in Greece there were school groups of every age from groups of little first graders on up.
If you do publish these, it would be awesome to get a shout out!
