This activity is going to take place over several days. It is not intended to replace normal learning. It is designed to provide students an opportunity to experience how the election season in the United States of America looks. On day one students will learn whether they align with the Democratic Party or the Republican Party based on a Time For Kids article. Students will then receive a slip of paper for the party that they align with. This paper instructs students to research the candidates that are looking to represent their party. Teacher should give students a few days to research these candidates. Teacher will then hold a primary election to decide who will represent each party. (Ballot slips are included). After a count is taken the class will know who is going to represent each party. Teachers should give their students about a week to research the two candidates. The teacher should then hold a general election to see who their class would elect as president.
