Due to the changes of the SAT as of 2016, I have created a year-long vocabulary instructional unit that encourages students to learn new "high-utility" vocabulary terms that they will come across in their reading.
The words come from a variety of places: SAT prep books, canonical high school reading, modern nonfiction reading (all subjects), scholarly journals, etc.
This bundle includes:
chronological vocabulary words (31 weeks worth)
corresponding vocabulary quizzes (13 of them)
vocabulary story assignments/ assessments (3 in total)
This is a hassle-free bundle! Everything you need is easily printable for you! I've done the hard work! Now you can reap the benefits and enjoy! Every Monday students get a set of words, and every other Friday (bi-weekly) students get a quiz. Following every 10 weeks of vocab words, students write a story of their own, following a format that encourages them to use the words fluidly in their writing.
**I offer an extra credit points system for students based on their use of vocabulary words in class discussions/ conversation, their assignments, and they can bring me pictures/ screenshots of the words being used in the real world to also get extra credit points. These points accumulate for free HW passes, dropped quiz grades, etc. I did include this "system" for your use/modification, as I do encourage it; it truly helps the students recognize the words in context and the multiple meanings a word can carry.
