The 2017 solar eclipse has come and gone! Have some fun and teach ELA standards at the same time as you and your students remember this spectacular event.
The following is included:
1. My 2017 Eclipse Experience Handout. This handout contains boxes for students to record their memories from the event. Many of the boxes contain “topics” that you may use for a springboard for longer writing assignments.
2. 2017 Solar Eclipse Text Message. Using imagery, students will write a text message telling someone about the solar eclipse.
3. Poetry Activities are included for students to write several types of poems about the eclipse, including a haiku, lunes, a cinquain, thesaurus poem, and weather poem. Step-by-step directions are included for each poem along with a sample. The samples are generic and not related to an eclipse but will help students know what to do.
Make sure you help your students remember the eclipse! You and your students will enjoy remembering together with the activities included in this packet!
