Post these cards around the room for a fun Write the Room or Word Scavenger Hunt activity that will teach your students about the Winter Paralympics and give them practice in reading and writing words! Students will use picture clues from the cards to find various words around the room in order, writing their words on a recording sheet on a clipboard. From the torch and Parade of Nations to para ice hockey and wheel chair curling to the podium and gold medal, your students will follow the symbols, events, and sports of the Paralympics while practicing reading, writing, and spelling!
There are two version of the recording sheet: one version has students just write down the words they find and the other version has an additional section for students to write a sentence using the words they find.
There are two versions of the cards in this document: a version with labels for each Paralympics picture and a version with blanks for you to write in sight words or spelling words based on your own curriculum or students' needs. The pre-labeled cards make a great extension to lessons about the Paralympics and will help reinforce vocabulary and concepts. The blank cards allow you to turn the activity into a sight word/spelling Write the Room center but with a Paralympics theme to engage your students while also teaching about the Winter Paralympics!
