**Calendars reflect monthly holidays/seasons/activities.
How do I use these daily writing prompt calendars?
-Each calendar is copied onto bright-colored paper and placed on the writing bulletin board in the classroom. When the students first enter my classroom, they take out their journal and approach the calendar. The calendar tells them their topic for their daily journaling. The students have the first five minutes to write on this topic in their journal. During free time, or any other downtime, the students are encouraged to add more thoughts or ideas to their daily journaling topic.
Weekly Focus (Student Choice)
-Students are given a copy of the monthly writing calendar.. On Monday, each individual student uses this calendar to choose a writing prompt for that week. Students would then highlight their choice on their individual calendar. During our writing period, the students will be able to work independently to complete writing task and then meet individually to conference with teacher to edit or add improvements.
Monthly Focus (Teacher Choice)
-Teachers can use these calendars as topics for their designated writing curriculum areas of focus. Teachers choose one monthly writing prompt for every student to complete. The calendar would simply be used as reference for different possible writing prompts for that particular month. Just like weekly focus, students will conference individually with teacher to edit or add any necessary improvements.
