Here's a visually rich set of word wall cards/posters that you can display in your classroom as you teach your students about twentieth- and twenty-first-century Virginia (aligned with Virginia Studies VS.9)!
Key terms/places/people include: agriculture, appoint, century, civil rights, coal mining, crop, desegregation, economic, federal, government, governor, industrialized, integration, lawyer, Massive Resistance, military, modernize, president, public facility, racial equality, rural, segregation, separate but equal, society, spokesperson, streetcar, technological, U.S. Supreme Court, unconstitutional, urban, Virginia, Northern Virginia, Coastal Plain (Tidewater), Woodrow Wilson, George C. Marshall, Maggie L. Walker, Harry F. Byrd, Sr., Oliver W. Hill, Arthur R. Ashe, Jr., A. Linwood Holton, Jr., and L. Douglas Wilder.
There is a word wall card for each of the above terms/places/people. In addition, there are two posters included (Desegregation & Massive Resistance and Contributions of Virginians in the 20th & 21st Centuries).
Note: the eight people cards have a name and picture only - no facts. I've done this purposely because of how I use these cards in my classroom. Also, there are a few duplicate cards (i.e., government, crop, etc.) from my other sets, since some words are used in multiple standards.
Please check out the preview to see examples of what's included in this resource!
