This contains A YEAR'S WORTH OF SCIENCE LABS. The labs are a mixture of nineteen experiments and crafts as well as two take-home type projects that I use for test grades. Most can be complete in less than 30 minutes, but some might take as much as one hour. This packet includes the following labs:
Paper Airplane Lab – Introduction to the Scientific Method
Animal Fat Lab – How animals fat helps animals in the cold.
Camouflage Lab – How animals adapt to their environments.
Food Chain Lab – Determining the order of food chains in different environments.
Butterfly Lab – Recreating complete metamorphosis using pasta.
Body Systems Lab – Organizing the parts of parts of the body into the different systems.
Cell Project – A take-home project recreating an animal and plant cell.
Soil Lab – Using your senses, determine different types of dirt.
Pollution Lab – Showing how soil filters water into clean freshwater.
Erosion Lab – How rocks erode in water over time.
Fossil Lab – Making inferences about animals based on fossils.
Weather Tool Lab – Sorting the weather tools and their functions.
Water Cycle Lab – Showing and classifying the stages in the water cycle.
Moon Lab – Using Oreos to recreate the stages of the moon.
Weight Lab – Shows how the weight of the parts equals the weight of the whole.
State of Water Lab – A worksheet showing the changes on the states of water.
Force Lab – Showing how an incline plane make work easier.
Lever Lab – Showing how the position of the fulcrum changes the amount of work needed.
Simple Machine Project – An “Invention Convention” project to design a simple machine.
Energy Lab – Showing how potential energy changes into kinetic energy.
Light Lab – How light affects objects (reflection, refraction, transparent, translucent, & opaque).
