These vocabulary quizzes were made using the FCAT 2.0 Science Test Item Specifications Glossary (Appendix c) and are in alphabetical order. This bundle also includes my Vocabulary Choice Board.
Each weekly quiz contains a word bank and 5 words and each page contains 2 quizzes to cut down on paper use.
I have used this method for the past 3 years and have had great test results. In my classroom a new set of words are introduced on Thursday where we spend time talking about each word, reviewed on Tuesday, and assessed on Wednesday. Students do have a weekly homework assignment that is due the day of the quiz. This tool is great to introduce topics that have not been taught and will be taught in future months, and its is a great review of topics that have been covered.
To use these quizzes you will also want to print each student a copy of FCAT Science Glossary located on pages 102-107 of the Test Items Specifications found at http://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/5682/urlt/0077913-fl09g5sci.pdf.
In our classroom we have a separate vocabulary folder from our interactive notebooks. A 3 prong folder works perfectly for this. The first page is the Vocabulary Choice Board followed by the 3 page (front and back) glossary, and loose leaf paper. Their homework assignments are to be done in that folder, and on the day of the quiz they staple or tape their quiz on top of the homework and make a stack of all the open folders. This makes grading a breeze.
