List Guide:
Pre-K Words…………………Lists 1 & 2
Kindergarten………………….Lists 3 & 4
1st Grade Words……………. .Lists 5 & 6
2nd Grade Words……………..Lists 7 & 8
3rd Grade Words……………….Lists 9 & 10

At the beginning of the year I start every student on list 1. I assess until the student is missing 4 or more words on a list and that is where I start their work. I also keep my students working on these words until they finish the 3rd grade lists. If they are on a roll, why stop them?! Their future teachers will thank you. :)

These books have been praised by administrators, counselors, and reading specialists as they clearly track and record students’ growth. The front of each booklet has a place for the student to put a sticker to celebrate his/her progress. The booklets can be used in Parent-Teacher Conferences, IEP meetings, Data Referral meetings, etc.

The newsletter templates allow you to send home each child’s individual sight words as well as email the generic newsletter to parents (just without their child’s sight words to practice.)

To Prep~ Decide which lists you need to use for your students.
(For my 1st graders I use all 10. For example, 2nd grade may need just lists 3-10, and 3rd grade may only need lists 5-10.)

1. Print lists needed IN ORDER and not back-to-back
2. Carefully cut whole stack on large paper cutter
3. If cut slowly, stack should stay together and can be stapled on the left to make a booklet

Students are tested weekly and have the responsibility of practicing their sight words at home through reading and writing them.

I store the student booklets, class roster, and testing flash cards in an accordion folder separated by word list.
