Practice using context clues for meaning and parts of speech. Color copies for laminating or black and white copies for easy copying. These cards can be used over and over for practice.
Print, laminate, and cut the color cards.
Pass out to students randomly and they will pair up by finding the common underlined word.
They discuss how the word is used in each sentence and its definition by using context clues. In one sentence, the word is used as a noun and in the other sentence it is used as a verb.
They can use the paper to do the activity to share with others or turn in.
They can have all the cards and sort the sentences in how the word is used- noun or verb.
You can use the black and white copies to do the same as above. Students can then glue their card to the paper and do the activity or they can write more sentences using the word in the same way.
Use them as task cards for assessment in a gallery walk or as a scoot activity.
My Multiple Meaning Glyph is a great complement to these cards!
