The following 25-question multiple choice quiz assesses students' knowledge on commas. There are 3 sections: a matching section where students needs to match the comma rule to a sentence where comma(s) is/are being used, a multiple choice section where students need to add commas where they're needed, and a multiple choice section where students need to identify, select, and eliminate the INCORRECTLY placed comma. The latter two sections are good preparation for many state standardized tests and the SAT. What is challenging about the quiz is that the latter two sections require students to correctly add or eliminate ALL the commas where necessary or students don't get the answer correct. While this is challenging and frustrating to students, this "all or nothing" means of scoring is what they can expect on standardized tests, so the assessment is a good preparation for what's to come. I made the quiz only out of 25 points, so each question is only worth 1 point, but you could easily double the points and make this a 50-point assessment. This is a challenging quiz, but it covers all comma rules and is quick to grade.
