Activity Description:

Students place boats (filled in boxes) on the game board. The number next to the name of the boat indicates the number of squares. Boats can be placed horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally. Each square can only be used by one boat.

Students play against one other student and try to find and “sink” the boats of the opponent. Players should not be able to see the opponent’s board.

For the verb activities, there are subject pronouns down the left side and infinitives across the top. To choose a square, the player must say the subject and correct verb form.

For the vocabulary activities, students should follow the example sentence on the top of the board.

All of the necessary vocabulary (boat names, hit, sunk, miss, examples of how to say a sentence) is on the sheet for student reference.

There are two grids for each player to use, one to put his/her own "boats" on (top half) and the other to keep track of the opponent’s board (bottom half).
