Practice, review or assess your students ability to measure in metrics and their comprehension of the parts of the scientific method. Students answer questions about sample experiments and then measure volume (solid and liquid), length, temperature, and mass in this simple stations lab. Use things easily found around your house or in a hardware store (nails, screws, bolts, washers, sand, etc). Of the 28 stations, the last 4 are challenge stations where students measure density and a more complicated mass example.
Measurement tool used: Rulers, meter sticks, balances, graduated cylinders, celcius thermometer.
This file includes:
1. 28 task cards with measurement problems or scientific method practice scenarios (can be laminated)
2. Teacher material list, tips and Instructions.
3. Students answer sheet and answer key (with and without challenge cards)
I set these up around my classroom for students to visit in partner groups. This is a very engaging & interactive lab with 28 stations where students spend approximately 2-3 minutes per station. I have left this document editable so you can use what you have available to you.
