Product Description
Students will use the zero product property to solve quadratic equations and solve a riddle. The riddle allows students to check their answers for accuracy.

All answers are integers and simple fractions. Equations are of the form:

(x - 2)(2x + 6) = 0
x(7x -5) = 0
x² + x - 6 = 0

A few equations require simple factoring or graphing with a graphing utility.

This worksheet can be used multiple ways:

1) To strengthen computation skills, ask students to solve algebraically by setting each binomial equal to 0.

2) To solve graphically, students can plot with a graphing calculator and use the 'zero' or 'intersect' function, which shows visibly the function intersecting the x-axis.

3) Also with a graphing calculator, students can use the 'table' function after graphing to look for coordinate pairs in which y = 0.
