Welcome to my page! I work in a District 75 public school in Brooklyn, NY teaching Kindergarten through 2nd grade. District 75 means I teach students who have moderate to severe disabilities, such as Autism, Emotional Disturbance, and ADHD. My students are passionate about learning and exploring the outside world through various means within the classroom.
The lesson plan is editable so you can completely customize it to fit your needs.
It is a well-written formal lesson plan, which is perfect for a teaching portfolio, use for student teaching and/or observation, or just use to turn into administration!
2D & 3D Shapes Geometry Lesson Plan for Autistic Population
In this lesson plan, students learn about 2D and 3D shapes. My students have a difficult time learning to conceptualize shapes by using simple geometric shapes to make larger or more complex shapes. Using toothpicks and marshmallows, makes an otherwise difficult topic fun to learn and much easier because of the hands-on-experience. By creating various 2D and 3D shapes, they are able to compare and contrast the differences between these types of shapes. It can be used for whole group, small group, and independent instruction – which make this 4-page lesson plan an excellent choice for a math center as well.
Giving your students this opportunity of hands-on learning with the building of 2D and 3D shapes, will make Math come alive!
Thanks for taking the time to check out my product.
