This 7-Day 5th Grade Math Unit covers Classifying two-dimensional figures and is aligned with the Common Core Standards. This unit was developed to meet the standards 5.G.B.3, and 5.G.B.4, which covers all concepts related to Classifying two-dimensional figures into categories based on their properties.

This unit will focus on learning and mastering how to classify two-dimensional figures into categories based on their properties. In this unit students will begin to understand that attributes belonging to a category of two-dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. Finally, students will classify two-dimensional figures in a hierarchy based on properties. Hands on Lessons and daily worksheets will provide students with practice opportunities that can be used in small group, as independent practice, or homework.
