These 2D shape cards come with three different game ideas to use in a classroom! You can model each game whole group so students know how to play and the rules. Then have students play in pairs and/or put these games at a math bin during Guided Math.
Using the 2D shape cards with labels is a great activity to do as a classroom sort game. Using a pocket chart, put the cards with labels at the top. Give each student a shape card with just a shape on it. Have students sort their shapes as a group. Having students prove why they sorted their shape the way they did is powerful because it's making students reflect on their decision, plus gives them another opportunity to use math vocabulary.
These 2D game cards are ENGAGING because it allows students to interact and cooperate with one another, yet getting another opportunity to work with 2D shapes in hands-on activities.
