Students will classify 2D shapes based on their attributes - number of sides and vertices. This can be done several ways – look for shapes in magazines, go on a hunt in the classroom, on the playground, at home, in the school, etc., or they could draw the shapes or create them out of construction paper.

Directions: Students will be detectives finding shapes that match the number of sides and vertices of the shapes on their sheets. They will cut out and color their magnifying glasses and look for shapes. This can be done several ways – look for shapes in magazines, go on a hunt in the classroom, on the playground, at home, in the school, etc., or they could draw the shapes or create them out of construction paper. Students will glue the shapes they find (or draw) into the coordinating box.
