In this packet you will find two fun and unique games:
FOLLOW THE CLUES:
Students move around the room using their shape finder "phones" to find the Shape Characters
that you have hidden! Shape finder phones are fun phone shaped flash cards that range in difficulty; from simple matching to defining shapes by their properties.
There are five levels of phone flash cards:
Level One- Character Match
Level Two- Shape Match
Level Three- Shadow Shape Match
Level Four- Written Word
Level Five- Properties
Students use their clues to find the correct shape. Once they find that shape they then check next to that shape on their Shapes Checklist
. Students can check in at the 2D Shapes, Go Help Center
any time they need assistance. The help center has 12 large answer keys that help promote self help and team work! After each level is completed students earn a badge for that level!
Follow The Clues has 14 coordinating worksheets including
Create-Your-Own Shape Character
Shape Word To Shape Identification
Students will love using the shape viewfinder
on their shape finders! This fun game encourages shape identification through visual exploration. Each phone has a shape cut out. Students move around the room finding objects that visually fit through that shape in their viewfinder! The flashcard provides the concrete outline of the shape, while the students interprets that shape visually with real world objects using spatial visualization. They then record the objects they find on their Shape and Object Worksheet
. (E.g. Shape: Circle Objects: Ball, Globe, Clock).
The Shapes Viewfinder game has 12 coordinating worksheets. There is one worksheet per shape. Students draw the objects they found that are that shape, and then describe how that object is that shape. (i.e the ball is a circle because it is round, it has no edges and no corners. Etc). These worksheets are perfect for a take home assignment. Students bring their Shape and Objects Logs
home and fill out a worksheet per night based off of the information they gathered on their log.
This packet is a MUST HAVE if you are looking for a fun, unique AND motivating way to teach shapes!
