This file consists of a 20 question assessment where students must determine differences in length of various objects.
This first page includes 3 problems which show 2 pictures of objects above a ruler. The students must determine the difference in length of the two objects. In addition, there are 2 multiple choice questions that students must determine the equation needed to solve the problem. (For example: A fire truck is 45 feet long. A dump truck is 32 feet long. Which equation could be used to determine the difference in length?)
The second page includes 4 word problems to determine difference in length. One is a basic word problem, one is a multi-step problem, one has a chart that has a multi-step solution, and a word problem with a ruler requiring students to draw out the measurements in the problem and then determine which was longer. (Kaley and Jake were both growing flowers in science class. Kaley’s flower grew 3 inches and Jake’s flower grew 6 centimeters. Draw both of their flowers using the ruler above.Whose flower was taller?)
The final page of the assessment consists of 4 questions using broken rulers. Two objects are shown on each broken ruler and students must determine the difference in the length of the objects.
