This math unit bundle was created for 2.NBT.B.6 and 2.NBT.B.7.
There are four days worth of independent work for students to add four two digit numbers and two three digit numbers using various strategies including grouping to make 10's, using place value, and number lines. They not only have to use different strategies to add, but they are required to show their answers in various forms: base 10 blocks, coins/money, and in words. They also will have to explain step by step how they found some of their answers to ensure full understanding of the different concepts.
I used LearnZillion math videos as a whole group preteaching tool. (The LearnZillion website is an awesome resource you should become familiar with if you haven't done so already!)
With this bundle, I also included a partner math game I created called Make 100! Students choose number cards to create four two digit numbers, add their numbers using the strategies they have learned, and determine which partner was closest to making 100. It is a simple activity for students to play that reinforces the skills they are learning.
Also attatched is an assessment for students to be given after the unit is complete. This assessment requires students to show the multiple strategies they learned to solve different addition problems. They also have to explain how they found their answer to one of the problems.
